Approximately 10 months after finishing my first painting of Megansett Beach in North Falmouth, I recently completed the last of sixteen further seascapes covering the Falmouth area of Cape Cod. The last of these being Waquoit Bay estuary, before it merges into Mashpee. The recent Falmouth series adds to the earlier eight paintings that form the 'Beaches of Bourne' series which started this whole Cape Cod journey.
Here's a quick slide presentation from my Facebook page to recap the Falmouth set.
I loved visiting each of the beaches in this special area of Cape Cod, from winter walks around Quissett Harbor, to turning the corner from Woods Hole and finding such gems such as the Shining Sea Bikeway running adjacent to the Vineyard Sound coastline. The more built up area's of Falmouth and East Falmouth had a more busy vibe to paint but the cadence of quiet returned as I got painting the Bristol and Menauhant beaches.
With a short section of Mashpee up next, the following Barnstable area marks the start of the Mid-Cape checkpoint and the next voluminous chapter of oil painting.
